Football

Colton Juniors

Colton Juniors FC was founded in 1990 by a group of parents, 6 years after a new housing development started to turn the tiny Colton Old Village into its’ present size. They wanted to give the kids something to do as the new area boasted no facilities for children. They then became part of Colton Sports & Institute Club, which also has sections for cricket, tennis and bowls.

The age range is under 7’s to 16’s with over 180 children signed onto our books. Most of the players are from Colton. Many come from the surrounding areas of Temple Newsam, Cross Gates, Whitkirk and Austhorpe with a few from further a field. This makes Colton Juniors the biggest football club in East Leeds.

Each team has a manager, assistant, coaches and parent representatives. The management committee consists of a Secretary, Chairman, Treasurer and Minute Secretary and two representatives from the teams. We all meet once a month to discuss relevant issue and get updates on each teams’ progress.

All officials are unpaid volunteers, elected each year. We are dedicated to developing the children’s skills to be become better footballers and people as they grow. Hopefully one day we will be proud to say we started the development of a future England international.

All officials, players and parents are governed by our constitution. It has behavior and child protection policies. In fact every official of the club has been vetted by the Police Criminal Records Bureau. This shows our commitment to the safety of children we supervise.

We are proud of our achievements in the past years. Boasting many cup and championship wins in both the Garforth and Charles Rice Junior Leagues. Our display cabinet boasts our greatest trophy to date; the winning of the inaugural Millennium Cup in 2000. Run by the Leeds & District FA, sponsored by Leeds United, the final was played at Elland Road.

We welcome anyone and every one of any race, creed, gender and religion. In fact we are desperate to start a girls / ladies team. So if you want more information or want to be involved with the biggest best run football club in East Leeds click on the link and drop us an e-mail.
